What is ShareX?
ShareX is a convenient free tool for creating screenshots and recording videos, which allows you to capture not only the entire screen, but also individual windows and arbitrary areas. The program has an intuitive interface and flexible hotkey configuration, making it easy for most users to use.
ShareX is relevant when creating content for blogs, presentations, and educational materials. Sharex can only be downloaded for the Windows operating system.
Screen Capture
ShareX allows you to capture program windows and screen areas, eliminating the need to cut out necessary elements from a full-screen screenshot using third-party software.
Creating screenshots and screen recordings is the main function of the program. Share X saves video recordings in MP4, WebM, MKV, AVI format, and also supports recording images in GIF format, which unfortunately are limited to only fifteen frames per second.
Images are saved in PNG, JPEG, BMP, and TIFF formats.
Image Text Recognition
An indispensable thing in the case when you need to get information on an image in text format for further editing, publication, translation, or more compact storage. ShareX supports English language recognition.
Built-in editor
ShareX has its own built-in image editing tool that allows users to highlight important information, blur or pixelate parts of an image (such as confidential information), combine multiple images into one, crop images, or create a fake cursor that will appeal to instructional material authors.
Video Converter
Thanks to the built-in converter, the application can convert existing videos into supported formats, eliminating the need for users to overwrite or search for separate converters.
Integration with Third-Party Services
After capturing an image or video, users don't have to manually move it to the cloud, as ShareX can automatically save files to Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and MEGA storage. There is also the ability to send recognized text and created media files directly to thematic services like Imgur, Pastebin, and YouTube.
The total number of resources available for integration with ShareX exceeds thirty.
QR Codes
The application can encode links, creating QR codes, and decode them from local files or directly from the screen using the selection tool.
How to Use ShareX?
The program has a user-friendly interface even for those who are not tech-savvy. The main program window contains a file manager, and to the left of it is a panel consisting of multiple dropdown menus that hide all of the program's functionality.
The left panel is divided into four categories: the first contains tools for capturing the screen and subsequent processing of the results, the second contains ShareX settings, the third category includes interaction with existing files, and the fourth is informational - it contains links to the Discord server, Twitter page, and official website.
Almost every element of the application can be customized for personal purposes: users are free to choose the formats and codecs used, set hotkeys for different program functions, change the color scheme of the application itself, and assign instructions to be executed on uploaded program images - for example, automatic publication of an image on a social network.
When the main window is closed, ShareX is minimized to the system tray so that users can use the application's functions without using unnecessary computer resources.
